8-4-11: USAWA 2″ Vertical Bar

8-4-11, Thursday

USAWA 2″ VERTICAL BAR

-108×1-both hands

-155×1-both hands

-199×1-both hands     *Notes: This and the previous two lifts were all contest-legal, with a pause at the top.

-238-MISS-both hands     *Notes: Got 2″ of air righty and nothing lefty.

-238-MISS-both hands     *Notes: No movement on either hand this time.

-225×1-right hand, -MISS-left hand     *Notes: Contest-legal lift righty and got about 6″ of air lefty.

-230×1-right hand, -MISS-left hand     *Notes: Contest-legal lift righty and about 4″ of air lefty.

-230×1-both hands     *Notes: Not contest-legal lifts.  But they were full pulls.

-225×1-both hands     *Notes: Only righty was contest-legal, with a pause at the top.  Lefty was a full pull though.

Very solid workout even though the numbers look really low to those that follow my grip workouts.  Remember, this is a USAWA-style workout.  An 18″ bar is used.  The pull is a full pull – the rotation of the plates must be stopped at the top to count.  Then a judge has to give the down signal.  Quite a bit harder than the standard grip contest rules.

My right hand record in the 220lb class is only 210lbs.  That wasn’t really my max but it was where I happened to stop at that particular Record Day contest.
